Catering Sales Kit

Scripts, objection handling and outreach to close the high-ticket engine.

Why this matters

One wedding equals hundreds of taco orders with one decision maker. Catering is where the money is, and it's won or lost in the first phone call. This page makes that call repeatable by anyone on the team.

Phone / WhatsApp script

  1. Step 1 · Greet warm, name the business

“Don Joaquín Street Tacos, this is [Rep]: are you planning an event?”

  2. Step 2 · Date first

“What date are you looking at? Let me see what crews we have.” (Date first creates real scarcity.)

  3. Step 3 · Guest count

“About how many guests? Kids included?”

  4. Step 4 · Event type & location

“Wedding, office lunch, quince? And what city is the venue in?”

  5. Step 5 · Recommend one package

“For 120 at a wedding I'd put you on El Clásico: four meats with a premium, aguas, crew, setup and cleanup.”

  6. Step 6 · State the guarantee

“Hot, on time, and nobody leaves hungry, or your next event is on us.”

  7. Step 7 · Ask for the deposit

“Want me to hold that Saturday? A deposit locks it and I'll text the confirmation right now.”

Objection handling

“That's too expensive.”

“I hear you. Compare it per guest to trays that run out halfway through: we cook until everyone's full, and the crew, setup and cleanup are in that number. If the budget is firm, La Fiesta gets you the live grill at a lower per-guest.”

“I need to check with my spouse / my boss.”

“Of course. I'll text you the quote card so you can forward it exactly as-is, and I'll hold your date 48 hours so nobody takes it while you decide.”

“I'm worried we'll run out of food.”

“That's the one thing we guarantee. Hot, on time, and nobody leaves hungry: if you run out, we refund the difference. We plan 3.5 tacos a guest and bring extra meat.”

“Can you do it cheaper if we skip the taquero?”

“We can do a drop-off Taco Bar To Go by the pound. But the taquero is what your guests remember: that's the part people talk about the next day.”

Cold outreach scripts

Office managers (email)
“Subject: Taco lunch for the [Company] team. We bring a live grill, feed 20 to 500, and clean up. Free tasting for the first lunch. Want the per-person price?”
Office managers (LinkedIn)
“Hi [Name]: we cater live taco lunches around the Lehi corridor. Happy to do a free tasting for your team. Worth 10 minutes?”
Wedding venues (partner pitch)
“We're the taquero crew couples ask for by name. We arrive 60 minutes early, protect your grounds, and clean up spotless. Can we be on your preferred vendor list? Referral fee or a free taco lunch for your staff per booked event.”
Ward activity leaders
“We feed ward activities all over the county: 100 people for under $[X] a head, and we handle everything. Want our activity pricing sheet?”

Daily targets: the Rule of 100

100 outreach touches a day.

  • Warm: past clients, quote no-shows, inbound leads not yet closed.
  • Cold: offices, venues, planners, activity leaders.
  • Touch = call, text, email, DM or walk-in. All logged.
  • Non-negotiable and daily. This is the whole engine in month 2.
